Heroes of the Golden Mask (2021)

Protectors of the ancient city of Sanxingdui, and the sworn heroes of the Golden Masks, Li, Zuma, Zhu, Aesop and Jiahao battle the evil warlord Kun-Yi.

Jiahao, Li’s father and leader of the team is killed in battle. The lone heroless mask selects Charlie, a homeless American teenager from thousands of years into the future to become the fifth member of the Golden Masks. Charlie is at first reluctant to join the team until he realizes that all of their masks are made of solid gold, and would be worth a fortune. Charlie stays with the team in hopes of taking the masks back to his time so he can bask in the wealth.

The team welcomes Charlie with instant action before he can learn the powers of his mask. Charlie fails miserably and cannot get his mask powers to activate. During one of these fights Charlie accidentally mistakes Kun-Yi for a villager, who goads him into stealing the masks for himself. Soon, the King of Sanxingdui receives a message from the gods that the team must go to the obsidian tower to defeat Kun-Yi.
